Oodles of Purple - Zoya 'Roxy'

Posted by Danica | Friday, December 25, 2009 | , , , | 4 comments »

Hello Lovelies!

Wow, traveling really takes a toll on my Lovely Blog. Sorry, never finished my 12 Days, I should have seen that coming (did all of you?) Anyways, I think this is the last purple, maybe the best purple
Here I have the cream of the crop! The ultimate purple! The ultimate glitter! If you have one Zoya in your collection, I believe it should be this one! The picture does not do the glitter justice!

Zoya 'Roxy'
2 coats
3 coats would probably do this perfect. It's darkish purple with chrome, light purple sparkle. Oodles of sparkles, yes. My ring and pinky fingers make it look light purple, but look at the first two fingers for the true color, not to mention the bottle. The glitter comes up through the layers and stick on the top as well to make it this 3d glitter effect. Like I said, 3 coats would make it amazing!
Ahhh, I can't stop looking at it. Damn you Roxy!

Seven Swans A-Swimming

On the seventh day of Christmas,
My true love sent to me
Seven swans a-swimming,
Six geese a-laying,
Five golden rings,
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtledoves,
And a partridge in a pear tree

Hello Lovely Readers
Today I have simply a white polish, remember when white was a big celebrity fad for awhile? Well I'm just discovering it for myself. I like white on it's own, but sometimes stark white is too much.
OPI 'Alpine Snow'
'Alpine Snow' with Icing 'Flawless'
Click all the photos to make bigger!
I've included a lot of pictures, because for one thing, white is hard to photograph and also, the Icing is very subtle. I was hoping Flawless would be more like China Glaze White Kwik Slvr, but it is really just a shimmer. What do you all think?

On the sixth day of Christmas,
My true love sent to me
Six geese a-laying,
Five golden rings,
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtledoves,
And a partridge in a pear tree

Hello Hotties,
I am finishing off the Love You Snow Much collection here, a must for the holidays I think.
China Glaze 'Tinsel'
I think this is about 4 or 5 coatsThis one, as is 5 Golden Rings, is great for layering and maybe gradients. I love the WHOLE collection. I love having the silver and gold in my collection. Sometimes I get bored with paingint my nails and this give me 3 times as many colors as I had before by putting the silver or the glitter over top.
What do you think?!

Oodles of Purple - OPI 'Ink'

Posted by Danica | Saturday, December 19, 2009 | , , , , , | 4 comments »

Hello Lovelies,
I know this isn't quite purple, it's both purple and blue! But I think it might be one of my favorite polishes. Gosh, these pics do not do it justice! I could NOT get it to work out. I will keep working on getting some pictures of it.
Ink is

On the fifth day of Christmas,
My true love sent to me
Five golden rings,
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtledoves,
And a partridge in a pear tree

Hey Polish Lovers,
Today I have part of the China Glaze Love You Snow Much collection. 5 Golden Rings is a dense gold glitter, I usually use as a topcoat. But I think this is 5 coats. This color is hard to photograph.
China Glaze 'Five Golden Rings'
Here's an example of this as a topcoat frenchy over OPI 'Holiday Glow'So, here is just another example of a nice color for your holidays. I got the Love You Snow Much collection in its entirety on Transdesign, and it was really inexpensive. The polishes were like $2 and some change each. And I got the cute snowflake ornament, hanging on my tree now.
What are your thoughts? Does anybody else have Five Golden Rings? Does anyone know of a similar color - I doubt there is a dupe. I have a ton of glitters and they are all different. China Glaze does it best.

Oodles of Purple - Zoya 'Pru'

Good Morning Polishers!
This is the first time I'm posting in the morning I think. Ohh I love the morning really, I'm usually too lazy to get up, but alas early morning Christmas shopping, the earlier the better!!
So today is an unusual "purple" I call a duoshimmer. I don't like the name duochrome, because it's just not chrome. I guess Zara would be a duoshimmer too.
But this one is so much so, that it's quite hard to define and get pictures of. It goes from red to purple to brown. The pictures show mostly purple, but I don't know, I think it leans brownish. I got this with my first Zoya order and I really thoght it'd love it, but I'm not sure that I do, unless it's in the sun.
Zoya 'Pru' 2 coats Non nail related bit:
My boyfriend and I made this gingerbread house (Thanks Rock!) And we just laughed at how awful we did. However, it's still in the Christmas spirit, so enjoy

Three French Hens

On the third day of Christmas,
My true love sent to me
Three French hens,
Two turtledoves,
And a partridge in a pear treeOnce again, from the Love You Snow Much collection:
China Glaze 'Emerald Sparkle'

This is the perfect holiday green IMO and I don't even like green polish. Gorgeous!

On the second day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree.
Hello Rein-Dears!
If you haven't noticed, I kind of have two things going on here. I started the 12 days of Christmas, which will all be Christmas mani ideas with all the polishes and material I used to do it (to give you fun ideas if you run out for the holidays), so please check back, sometimes purple will be first, sometimes the holiday mani will be first, there will be at least two in a day for awhile.

This is my first successful gradient, but it needs work! I love this idea, but I just really need help. I should continue practicing and watching videos.
I used white, because it kind of looks like snow, hence our second holiday mani!
Anyway, left to right:
2 coats of OPI 'Alpine Snow'
1 layer of Icing 'Flawless'
1 layer of SH Diamond Strength '05 Diamonds'
1 layer of China Glaze 'Tinsel'
1 layer of China Glaze 'Nova'
Topcoat INM Northern Lights Silver
So, I'd like some feedback? Does anybody know of a good tutorial or anything? Does anybody have any tips, ways I can improve? What do you think of my first gradient?

Oodles of Purple - Icing 'No Whinning'

Posted by Danica | Tuesday, December 15, 2009 | , , , , | 2 comments »

Hello Lovelies,
I wish I had gotten better pictures of this one.
Here's
Icing 'No Whinning' 2 coats
Another vampy black-purple shimmer. I love it, however THEY SPELLED THE NAME WRONG. I'm crazy about spelling and grammar, so it really bugs me.
Icing has a nice selection of colors, as usually they are like buy one get one free or half off. Jackpot! Go check them out, they get new ones every once in awhile.

What do you think? Anyone else have any Icing? Does anybody have that black with glitter one? That looks hot!

On the first day of Christmas,
My true love sent to me
A partridge in a pear tree

Hey Polish Angels,
Holiday manis begin tonight and continue til Christmas (maybe even after)

OPI 'Holiday Glow'
2-3 coats!
For my non-nail related bit:
I know I already posted this picture, but it's part of the lyrics. Yum!!!

Oodles of Purple - Zoya 'Yasmeen'

Posted by Danica | Monday, December 14, 2009 | , , , , | 4 comments »

Hello Readers,

Zoya 'Yasmeen'
2 coats
This is a gorgeous, dark, plum shimmer purple that is straight purple. No pink, no blue.
It's a total vampy, lit from within, purple shimmer purple all the way around. Gorgeous. Once again, I don't love the Zoya formula, but I LOVE their colors.

Hey Polish Lovers!
Today I have for you... another purple (shocking!!!)
OPI 'Queen of West Weberly'
was part of this summer's 90210 3 piece collection. It's quite pretty.
2 coatsComparisons:
left to right,

OPI 'Mauving to Manitoba' -- OPI 'Queen of West Weberly' -- OPI 'Catherin the Grape'
Catherine, Queen, Mauving (in dimmer cloudy light)
Make this last picture bigger to see the true shimmer in Queen of West Weberly. It's pretty gorgeous. Mauing to Manitoba is similar, but with a slightly frosty finish instead of pink/purple shimmer.
What do you think?

Hello Dears!
More purple! I'm still truckin'.
China Glaze 'Cowgirl Up' 2 coatsA beautiful dark purple. Yes okay I have a ton of purple and every time I look at another purple to buy my boyfriend is like "You already have that color." However, I can honestly say that this is DIFFERENT. And gorgeous. The picture isn't the best, but trust me when I say it's just gorgeous - come to think of it, I haven't worn it enough. Maybe I'll take more pics next time I wear it.

What do you think?!

Oodles of Purple - Frankens

Posted by Danica | Tuesday, December 08, 2009 | , , , | 6 comments »

Hey Loyal Readers,
I just kind of had a holiday weekend, because my boyfriend's parents came in and that was Thanksgiving for us. So, now that they're gone I can get online and blog to my heart's content. I'll be catching up on my reading and my swatching and writing.

Here's my 2 purple frankens. This first one is a dark blurple glitter.
And this one is a medium glowy purple with some glitter stuck in it.No names, and as far as the recipe, forget it, I just mixed purples for both. And the dark blurple, I started with an old MPJ - sadly, because it broke and I put a ton of thinner in it and completely ruined it. I was sad, I don't know why, but I'm obsessed with having the 3 different versions. I know I got it at 8ty8 Beauty, but lately everything is out of stock there. I have a comparison of the 3 that I had (including the one that I'm looking for except that it is already ruined - I wish I would have gotten it swatched before hand).
Anyway, enough about my rant about my non-holo MPJ
Non-nail related bit:
My first Christmas without a real tree. Here's my solution. Oh my gosh, this smells amazing! And just like a Christmas tree. It's already gone, I used it up very quickly, but it is the best! I will probably need another, although I'm going home for Christmas where there is a real tree, so I can't wait!
Also it looks like there's another polish-lover in the family
